In theory they could similarly enhance the editing software of the One X, but will they? But if the One X does everything you want it to in it's current state of development, then that is probably what I'd buy. The Insta360 ONE X2 looks to be more of a version 1.5 with no additional video or photo resolutions added to the camera.

GoPro HERO9 Black - Waterproof Action Camera with Front LCD and Touch Rear Screens, 5K Ultra HD Video, 20MP Photos, 1080p Live Streaming, Webcam, Stabilization. The one thing the reviewers seem to love is the editing software. Insta360 ONE R 1-Inch Edition Co-Engineered with Leica 5.3K 30fps Action Camera with 1-Inch Sensor, 4K 60fps, Stabilization, IPX8 Waterproof, 19MP. The flipside to this is that Insta360 does seem to be focusing development on the One R. But if I were buying today, and I had no thought of any features other than 360 photos, I would choose the One X.
I still like the 3D functionality, so I'm torn as to whether or not I should have bought the One X. It looks to me like the One R and Evo have something in common: They sacrifice some 360 functionality and case compatibility to gain some other (admittedly cool) functions. If it had a user-friendly case, like the One X, I would have scratched the case instead of the lens. Insta360 today launched the ONE X, a 5. And I did damage it by leaving it out of it's case in 360 mode while running around taking a bunch of photos. Insta360 ONE X Redefines the Action Camera with 5.7K Video, Impossible Stabilization, Cinematic Slow-Mo The future of the action camera is here. The previously rumored Insta360 ONE R action camera (Adorama B&H) that was officially announced today was co-engineered with Leica. I found a waterproof box I could use to carry the Evo, but it has to be in stereo mode, and the camera can't be used inside the case, and, as a result, I end up not having easy access to the camera when I want it, or the camera is ready to shoot, but easily damaged. The One X has a couple of case options that, even if I had no intention of shooting in wet conditions, would provide a layer of protection. I feel like the One R is going to have that same issue.Īlso I can't protect the camera as well as I'd like. I still like that aspect, but in practice I get far more out of its 360 capabilities, and its 360 capabilities are slightly compromised by the thickness of the camera.
I like the Evo, and I like the idea of taking 3D photos, but in reality, to take advantage of the 3D photos, you need extra gear. I have neither, but I made a similar decision when I bought the Evo last year, and I'm not sure I made right choice.
